The think tank claims that wind and solar power saved the UK from gas imports worth £5.9bn during the Hormuz crisis but fails to mention that the wind and solar power cost more.

Climate Brief, the Green Blob funded climate propaganda outfit, has claimed that wind and solar power have saved the UK from gas imports worth £5.9 billion during the Hormuz crisis.

My first reaction is – so what?

It might just as well have said ‘it’s Monday today’!

In isolation, its statement is meaningless. But, of course, we can guess that its real intention is to make us believe we are £5.9 billion better off as a result of wind and solar power.

In reality though, its own figures are a damning indictment of renewable energy. They confirm that even at the current high price of gas, gas power is still cheaper than renewable energy.

Let’s delve into the numbers. This is what Carbon Brief says:
