Many industries have left UK due to high cost of energy. All the increased costs are paid by end consumers.
As a retailer I can tell that the present food prices are mind boggling compared to 3 years ago. I been in this business for 37 years and never seen such food inflation
i'm no expert but having listened to William Happer et al about the insignificancy of the impact of CO2 in the planet's temperature it is hard to take all this seriously; it feels like this whole CO2-ETS etc has just been made up, hot air (!) in essence (and I really think this is just another tax very convenient to the western governments). Everything I read about the climate assumes that CO2 is evil, dirt, and must be reduced; Happer et al argue, with robust science behind, that's not the case. A bit like with the 'cases' in Covid times, we must focus the debate on the real role of CO2 in the planet climate. Until then, my sense is that this whole thing is another huge hoax!
Well the UK just needs a “carbon border adjustment mechanism” so all those evil producers who can export without the ETS cost will “have to” pay to level up “and reduce their CO2 emissions, just for the UK.”
That’ll show them while simultaneously bringing back all the factories and industrial jobs and domestic supply chains!
(Once a country starts wrecking things like the UK and EU have on energy, that type of logic is not a bug, it’s a feature. …)

You’re missing the point! If everyone stopped breathing out CO2 it would cease to exist and when we are all dead our corpses would return to the earth enriching it with more CO2.
