This article should be mandatory reading for all of our numpty politicians in the UK, Australia and New Zealand who do not yet understand that only with a reliable and continuous supply of high density energy can we maintain an economically prosperous society. This cannot be provided with a majority of solar and wind energy in the system. Energy industry engineers should understand this, but too many seem to have sacrificed scientific integrity for quasi-religious belief in a surfeit of de-industrialising "renewable" energy generation.
Trouble is John our political class are too thick. Particularly Miliband and co Net zero is a religion and he is the high priest, intent on destroying our country.
we have a similar problem in NZ and even worse in Asutralia Julie. The problem is that the MPs grab hold of UN/IPCC tropes and then become immovable. Grrr.....
You may be referring to a lecture Dr Constable gave a couple of years ago on how an energy infrastructure highly reliant on energy-sparse wind and solar will become so degraded that “by 2100 the UK economy could collapse into the unrecoverable state of being unable to maintain itself”.

I recall a statement from Dr Constable from around five years ago that within 20 years there wouldn't be a wind turbine standing in the UK.
That means someone's going to lose their shirt, and it will be the British public.
